Stephen Smith will take on face Devis Boschiero in an IBF eliminator

Stephen 'Swifty' Smith will take on Devis Boschiero in an IBF super-featherweight final eliminator at the Liverpool Olympia on September 19.

The winner will get a shot at the IBF world champion, Jose Pedraza, who took the title by out-pointing Andrey Klimov in June.

Smith (22-1-KO12), now 30, is hoping to become the third of his four brothers to secure a world title bout after Paul's defeats to Arthur Abraham and Liam's impending super-welterweight clash with Michel Soro.

In Boschiero (37-3-1-KO19), Smith faces an experienced Italian who is a former European champion and only lost out on the WBC world title via a controversial points defeat to Takahiro Ao in November 2011.

Support on the night comes from the likes of Scott Cardle, who makes the first defence of his British lightweight title against Gary Buckland and unbeaten light-welterweight Bradley Saunders.

This is by far the biggest fight of Stephen Smith's career and victory over Boschiero will guarantee him a shot at IBF champ Pedraza next.

Promoter Eddie Hearn said: "This is by far the biggest fight of Stephen Smith's career and victory over Boschiero will guarantee him a shot at IBF champ Pedraza next.
