Andre Ward is ready to take on Gennady Golovkin.
The super-middleweight star threw his hat into the ring after the middleweight knockout specialist called out Floyd Mayweather.
Golovkin said he would move down to light-middle to take on the pound-for-pound king and also suggested he would happily move up to super-middle to take on the man nicknamed S.O.G
Ward has been in talks with Sergey Kovalev and is expected to move up to light-heavyweight but says he will gladly stay at 168lbs to face another unbeaten fighter.
“I’m ready,” he told International Business Times, on the possibility of facing Golovkin,
“If you really want to fight, less talking in the media. Let’s get the network (HBO) involved, let’s put it in their hands, put it in our team’s hands. Andre Ward is available and we can make it happen.
“If you look at my track record, I’ve always been ready and willing to fight everybody."
Ward (28-0-KO15) has boxed just twice in the last 19 months following contractual issues with his promoter.
At 31 the Californian does not intend to spend so long out of the ring in future and with Golovkin (33-0-KO30) dominating the middleweight division, he believes it would be a huge fight.
“There’s places for tune-up fights, there’s places for stay-busy fights, there’s a place for that," said Ward.
"At the end of the day, I’m concerned about making a living for my family, but my legacy is really important to me.
"And the only way you get that legacy cemented where you can walk into the Hall of Fame and get voted in, is to fight the best, and that’s what I want to do.”
