Dillian Whyte must force his way into a world title fight after being unable to secure a shot at WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder, says Johnny Nelson.

Whyte is a member of the 'who needs him club.' You know if you get in the ring with Dillian, you're going to have to work for the victory. Either you will win and look bad, or you are going to lose and that title is gone. He's one of these fighters who it's convenient to blank.

Promoter Eddie Hearn fears that Deontay Wilder will reject offer of Dillian Whyte fight

I was in that club, because I wasn't the most exciting fighter in the world, but he's in there because he will give you hell and you'll have to chop his legs off to stop him from fighting.

Pride should make a champion think that he wants to put Whyte in his place, shut him up, and maybe do a better job than Anthony Joshua did.

Me being a cynic, I think if Wilder believes Whyte is that easy, then just take the money and try to get rid of him.

As a fighter, I understand why Deontay Wilder is asking for a certain amount of money - that's business and he's being a businessman. But there is a risk of him not being active enough. I get his point of view, but I also get the cynic's point of view. Me being a cynic, I think if Wilder believes Whyte is that easy, then just take the money and try to get rid of him.

Whyte is about to make his American debut and he's just got to be himself. His fight against Dereck Chisora, you thought this is an old school heavyweight fighter. As long as he gets the win in that style, then he stays on the peripheral of getting a world title shot.

But I do think that Whyte needs to put himself in a mandatory challenger position where the champion has no choice. No matter what, they will have to fight you.

Dillian must stay patient. No-one is going to shout him out, that's the way it is in the 'who needs them' club.
