Not long now until Anthony Crolla and Jorge Linares meet

Anthony Crolla is nearing a daunting second defence of his WBA world lightweight against Jorge Linares. Here's a taster...

'Million Dollar' (31-4-3-KO13) won the belt in November with a fifth-round stoppage of Darleys Perez in November and made an equally-spectacular maiden defence in May when he dispatched Ismael Barroso in seven.

Now, Crolla must take on Barroso's fellow Venezuelan Linares (40-3-KO27), who was only stripped of the WBC world title in February because a hand injury prevented him defending it.

Linares, 31, has ruined British world title dreams before; in May 2015 he climbed off the canvas to record an 10th-round stoppage of Kevin Mitchell at The O2 on the undercard of Kell Brook v Frankie Gavin.

This time the man known as El Nino de Oro (Golden Boy) will travel to Manchester Arena, a venue Crolla has made his fortress in his last four fights.

The small matter of The Ring magazine title is on the line...
