Britain's Ashley Theophane lifts the lid on life with Floyd Mayweather Jr

Ashley Theophane has credited his mentor Floyd Mayweather Jr and says 'Money' is always looking to offer his help.

The Londoner (39-6-1-KO11) is in line to face newly-crowned WBA super-lightweight world champion Adrien Broner, who has also spent time under the wing of the unbeaten Mayweather Jr.

With Mayweather Jr having confirmed his retirement on 49-0 in the wake of dispatching Andre Berto on points last month, Theophane has lifted the lid on life in the welterweight legend's stable.

He told Sky Sports News HQ: "I used to go to New York to do my training camps when I was British champ and one day I saw Floyd was in camp.

I went back and the very first day Floyd said, 'The London guy is back', and from there we just built up the relationship.

"I went over and the first day I was there, Floyd saw me there and asked who I was and I said 'I am the British champ.' A year went by and I had lost my British title so I decided if I could go back to try and get on Floyd's team.

"I went back and the very first day Floyd said, 'The London guy is back', and from there we just built up the relationship.

"Floyd is a nice guy. He has all the money but he wants to help. For me as a boxer, it is inspiring to see a man that has so much money but is still working and wants everyone around him to achieve their dreams as well.

"I used to be in London watching him but now he is my boss and my friend."

Life as one of Floyd's employees/friends appears to come with its material perks, too...

Theophane added: "I got a Chrysler 300 Sports. He bought it for me because I was doing well in sparring with him when he was going to fight Berto. He knew I needed a car so he bought me it, which is great.

"If I win more fights and win the world title, it is going to get bigger. It's a great motivation."
