Second seed Andy Murray cruised into the US Open second round on Tuesday with a 6-3 6-2 6-2 win over the Czech Lukas Rosol.
The Scot believes the new roof over Arthur Ashe Stadium at Flushing Meadows has given it the feel of an indoor court.
The new roof over Ashe was open but, because of its size, Wimbledon and Olympic champion Murray said it made conditions "perfect".
"It's quite different playing out there now," Murray said.
"There's literally no wind at all. It almost has the feel of playing indoors; it's perfect conditions.
"It's a lot louder than most places we play and it's a slightly different sound out there. There's always been noise but I think the roof has changed it a little bit.
"You get used to it as the match goes on but it would be quite a significant difference if you play on the outdoor courts."
Murray will play Marcel Granollers of Spain in the second round and his progress also means Britain will have five players in the second round for the first time since 1987, with Kyle Edmund, Dan Evans, Johanna Konta and Naomi Broady having also made it through.
Meanwhile, Nick Kyrgios was again left raging at officials despite recording a comfortable straight-sets win over Britain's number two Aljaz Bedene 6-4 6-4 6-4.
The Old Grandstand court had only just witnessed Bernard Tomic making lewd remarks to a heckling spectator before Kyrgios began his tournament in yet more controversy.
In the very first game, he was handed a code violation by umpire Alli Nili after he smacked a ball away in frustration and almost hit a line judge.
The Australian responded, saying: "You're giving me a code violation for hitting the ball too hard? I've heard it all now."
The 21-year-old, who had to call on a trainer to attend to a troublesome right hip late in the game, said later: "You have one job, you just have one job."
