Watch Kyle Edmund argue with the umpire and match referee over a disputed line call during the semi-final defeat to Marin Cilic at the Australian Open

Kyle Edmund was quick to vent his fury after a controversial line call during his Australian Open semi-final defeat to Marin Cilic.

The British No 2 had enjoyed a breakthrough run in Melbourne over the last fortnight but it came to a half at the hands of 2014 US Open champion Cilic who recorded a 6-2 7-6 6-2 victory to reach the final.

Despite the straight sets nature of victory, the match wasn't without its dramas as Edmund overcame an injury timeout at the end of the first to put up a valiant attempt in the second.

Much has been made of the 23-year-old's mild-mannered nature but as he battled to keep his Grand Slam hopes alive he vented his frustrations to the umpire at the start of the third set.

With Edmund furious that Cilic was awarded the first point of the fifth game after a successful challenge, he demanded to speak to the referee as he felt the point should have been replayed as the call came just as he was hitting the shot.
