Liam Broady won his first Masters match to move into the second round with a straight-sets win over Bjorn Fratangelo at the Miami Open.
Broady broke the American early in the first set to go 3-1 up but Frantangelo soon got back on level terms to take the set to a tie-break with Broady coming through 7-5.
And Broady broke Frantangelo three more times on his way to wrapping up a 7-6 (7-5) 6-3 win.
There was disappointment for British No 3 Cameron Norrie, who had moved into the first round after beating American Patrick Kypson in qualifying, when he was defeated 7-6 (7-3) 6-2 by Chile's Nicolas Jarry.
Norrie traded service games with the world No 65 but came unstuck in the tie-break before being broken twice in the second set to go down in one hour and 22 minutes.
Marcos Baghdatis went down to American Jared Donaldson 6-3 6-4, Matthew Ebden got the better of Gilles Simon 6-3 6-7 (2-7) 7-5 and tour veteran Ivo Karlovic lost to Vasek Pospisil 7-6 (7-4) 7-6 (7-5).
Broady will face Filip Krajinovic in the next round, while Kyle Edmund will face the winner of the tie between Nicholas Kicker and Frances Tiafoe.
