Britain's Kyle Edmund secured his place in the semi-finals of the Erste Bank Open in Vienna with a 6-2 7-5 win over Jan-Lennard Struff.
The world No 63 made an early breakthrough against the German before carrying on the momentum in the fifth game and quickly sealing the set in 28 minutes, losing just five points on his own serve.
Edmund, 22, had seen off former world No 3 David Ferrer and Austria's world No 284 Dennis Novak to reach the quarter-finals and looked to be on his way to a comfortable victory midway through the next.
But Struff, who is 12 places higher than Edmund in the rankings, hit back after creating his first break point opportunity of the match.
However, Edmund regained his compose to move ahead once more and then successfully served out the match at the second time of asking to set up a semi-final clash against Lucas Pouille, who beat fellow Frenchman Richard Gasquet.
For Edmund it's the chance to reach his first final at ATP World Tour level and he will be first on court on Saturday from 12pm, which you can see live on Sky Sports Arena.
Pouille was too strong for Gasquet, coming through 7-6 6-1 to seal his spot in the last four. After edging the first set tie-break, the world No 25 raced through the second as he chases a third title of the year.
In the other half of the draw, Jo-Wilfired Tsonga will meet Philipp Kohlschreiber after the pair also had straight sets victories in Friday's semi-finals.
Tsonga ended the hopes of top seed Alexander Zverev and with it maintained his unlikely hopes of a place at the season-end ATP Finals.
The Frenchman won through 7-6 6-3 and knows a win this week following by another strong showing at the Paris Masters next week would give him a chance of a place at the O2.
Pablo Carreno Busta, Sam Querrey and Kevin Anderson are all struggling with their form and while Tsonga's run is probably too late, he is finishing the season on a high.
Kohlschreiber will provide Tsonga's opposition after a 7-5 7-6 success over Diego Schwartzman.
