Tournament favourite Rafael Nadal overcame an eye injury to advance into the China Open semi-finals on Friday.
The world No 1 beat John Isner 6-4 7-6 (7-0) despite earlier being troubled with his sight to extend his winning run to 10 matches.
"Just something came to my eye, that's all," said Nadal, who is chasing a sixth title this year.
"I think it was just a hair or something, a hair from the tennis ball. It was bothering me for a while.
"Not important, (but) I am still feeling (it) a little bit by the way."
Nadal will face Grigor Dimitrov in the semi-finals, while Nick Kyrgios also qualified for the final four. Krygios was leading 6-0 3-0 when opponent Steve Darcis retired injured, and he will face Alexander Zverev in the next round.
Elsewhere, top seed Marin Cilic cruised into the Japan Open semi-finals with a 6-2 6-0 win against Ryan Harrison.
Cilic struck 11 aces in a dominant victory and will next face Adrian Mannarino while David Goffin meets Diego Schwartzman.
Goffin, chasing his second consecutive title after winning in Shenzhen last week, saw off Richard Gasquet 7-5 6-2 and Schwartzman was a 6-0 7-5 winner over Steve Johnson.
The Japan Open is live on Sky Sports from 5am on Saturday, and the China Open is live from 9:30am.
