Worcester chief thrilled after stunning second-half display

Worcester director of rugby Mike Ruddock hailed his side's display after the Warriors dented Leicester's title hopes with a 23-19 win. Shane Drahm was instrumental in the victory which sees the Warriors move 14 points clear of rock-bottom Leeds in the battle to avoid the drop. The Warriors fly-half inspired his team to a stunning second-half fight-back which saw tries from Marcel Garvey and Miles Benjamin seal a shock victory at Sixways. "It was a poor start for us and a tough end when it could have slipped away, but in between we were the better side and scored three great tries," said Ruddock. "Our old problems came back a bit as we gave away too many penalties around the contact area which put us under pressure. "When the game broke up and we could play rugby I thought we were outstanding at times. "I thought the courage and spirit we showed at the end to repel their attacks was exactly what we were looking for."

Loffreda anguish

Tigers head coach Marcelo Loffreda was left to rue his side's disastrous start to the second half which could prove costly as the Premiership season reaches its climax. "We conceded two tries in the early part of the second half which was very frustrating for the team and made it difficult for us to come back afterwards," said Loffreda "It is difficult sometimes to put a team out with so many injuries, but this is not an excuse because we still brought a good team with us. "We had a great start with the early try, but it was not enough. "Worcester played an excellent game and played with a lot of consistency and pressure - they were very smart."
