Leicester coach looking to Europe after Anglo-Welsh cup win

Leicester head coach Marcelo Loffreda is refusing to get carried away by the Tigers' 32-8 EDF Energy Cup victory over Sale Sharks. The cup holders booked their place in the semi-finals of the competition at Welford Road on Friday night. Dan Hipkiss, Frank Murphy, Tom Varndell and Tom Croft scored the tries with Andy Goode kicking the extras. But Leicester continue their Heineken Cup campaign against Toulouse next time out and Loffreda does not want the standards to slip.

Challenge

He said: "We are improving in each game, but we need to be at a very high level next Saturday. "The team was really solid throughout the game against Sale. We put in a very good performance and I'm satisfied." Cardiff Blues' win over Bath on the same night meant the Sharks could not have qualified for the semi-finals even if they had won at Leicester. But head coach Philippe Saint-Andre was still disappointed to see his side ship 15 points in the last 13 minutes. "We were playing catch-up rugby, took some risks and they punished us," he said. "I thought we could get the game back to three or four points after Luke McAlister's try, but there was an interception and that was game over. "We matched them for much of the game and I was pleased with the forwards, but the last few minutes were disappointing." Next up for Sale is a trip Bayonne in the European Challenge Cup where Saint-Andre will be eager to get his side back on track.
