Skipper Sam Warburton says the British and Irish Lions have not come to New Zealand to entertain ahead of their 10-match tour.
The Lions arrived in Auckland on Wednesday to a haka welcome and will play their first match on Saturday against a Provincial Barbarians side.
Warburton captained the Lions to a series win in Australia four years ago but the last Lions tour to New Zealand in 2005 ended in a 3-0 series defeat.
And Warburton says he is happy to win ugly as he looks to become only the second Lions captain to claim a series victory against the All Blacks.
The Welsh flanker said: "I don't care how we win. If we won every game 3-0 I'd bite your arm off.
"It's all about winning at this level. It's nice from a spectator's point of view to have lots of tries, but I'd take a win all day long."
At least 23 of Warren Gatland's party will be needed to kick-start their tour against a Provincial Barbarians XV in Whangarei on Saturday.
The 10-match schedule will be a big challenge for the 41-man squad looking to become the first Lions side since 1971 to win a series in New Zealand.
They will also play four of the five New Zealand Super Rugby teams and the New Zealand Maori before the first of three Tests on June 24.
Asked if he was comfortable with suffering a couple of warm-up defeats if it meant overall victory against the All Blacks, Warburton said: "100 per cent. It's all about the Test series.
"The provincial games are important to win but we've got to realise the next three, four weeks are big learning weeks for us. We just need to get better and better after each fixture.
"It will be good to get that first game under your belt so we can crack on. Because these games come up so quick you actually enjoy them more.
"We have a meeting tonight which I presume will be on squad selection - I presume the guys who have been involved over the last two weeks will make up the majority of the team.
"I think I have a chance [of starting the first game] as I have been in the camp for the last two weeks - that is what frustrated me last time.
"I think I played the third game on tour and was the last guy in that squad to play a game!
"I was pretty jealous seeing the guys Lions jersey coming back from the laundry nice and clean - you just want to get that jersey in your kit bag and say you have played for the Lions."
