Kieran Read insists he is fit and raring to go in Saturday's first Test against the Lions in Auckland, following his recent recovery from injury.
The All Blacks' skipper required surgery to repair a thumb he broke two months ago in South Africa.
And despite only recently returning to non-contact training, Read is neither concerned about the state of his thumb nor his lack of match practice.
Speaking ahead of this weekend's game at Eden Park, the 31-year-old said: "I'm feeling spot on.
"Since we got into camp last week I have been pretty good. I haven't been worried about the thumb.
"The body is in good knick. The emotions and adrenaline will kick in tomorrow and I'm really pumped for the Test match, so I won't be too worried about myself."
Read will be making his 98th Test match appearance for New Zealand and says he is relishing the moment.
"The whole history of the Lions isn't lost on us, we love the opportunity", he said.
"I just have to prepare as best I can and adapt and adjust to whatever gets thrown our way."
