Australia head coach Michael Cheika has turned to fly-half Quade Cooper ahead of Saturday's Rugby Championship match against New Zealand, live on Sky Sports.
Cooper, 28, has been drafted into the Wallabies starting line-up for Saturday's match as Cheika attempts to plug a number of gaps in his squad.
Bernard Foley will play at centre to accommodate Cooper after Matt Giteau, Rob Horne and Matt Toomua were all injured during Australia's 42-8 Bledisloe Cup defeat to the All Blacks last Saturday.
Cooper has not featured for Australia since their their 65-3 win over Uruguay at last year's World Cup.
However, the New Zealand-born back, who recently left French club Toulon in order to boost his international credentials, will now have an opportunity to stake his claim for a regular starting place in Cheika's side.
Samu Kerevi has also replaced Tevita Kuridrani, while Scott Fardy returns as starting blindside flanker, with Adam Coleman replacing Rob Simmons at lock.
Cheika's side must win at the Wellington Regional Stadium if they are to regain the Bledisloe Cup for the first time since 2003.
The third and final match of the series is in Auckland on October 22 after the Rugby Championship ends.
