England flanker James Haskell to make decision on club future

James Haskell says he has 'a few opportunities' as he looks for a new club

England flanker James Haskell has a big decision to make on his future after receiving offers from a number of clubs.

Northampton Saints and Bristol are reportedly interested in signing the 32-year-old, who will leave Wasps when his contract expires at the end of the season.

Haskell wants to remain in the Aviva Premiership in order to stay in contention for England selection ahead of the 2019 World Cup and he told Sky Sports News he wants to move to a club that can compete for trophies.

"I've got a few opportunities; I've just got to make the right decision," said Haskell.

"My priority is going to a place that I'll contribute to, will improve as a player and be competitive, and obviously keep me in the mix for England. I've got to make a big decision.

"I've got to talk to my agent, sit down and look at the options.

"I'm very sad to be leaving Wasps and I just want to keep being involved here [with England]. I want to play at a club that is competitive and is going to win silverware."

Haskell says money will not be the motivating factor when Danny Cipriani decides on his next club

Also leaving Wasps this summer is Danny Cipriani. The fly-half has been linked with moves to France and Japan but Haskell says money will not be the motivating factor in wherever the 30-year-old ends up.

"Danny is probably a couple of steps away from here [England] but any injury and he could come in," said Haskell.

"He is one of the best attacking 10s in the Premiership and has an unbelievable a skillset. You've seen what he's done for Wasps. Any club would be lucky to have him.

It would never be a decision about going for wealth, but to be a key rugby player and to help improve himself.

"I can't comment on where he's going to be but Danny's very competitive. He's someone that really cares about what he does and how he wants to perform. He takes life very seriously.

While Cipriani is in the international wilderness, Haskell is back in England contention after missing the wins over Italy and Wales due to suspension.

His last appearance came in the defeat to Ireland on the final day of the 2017 Six Nations and the 75-times capped forward admits standards have risen over the past 11 months.

He said: "The thing about Eddie and his coaching staff is that they constantly want you to keep improving. The focus is always what was done yesterday is not good enough for today.

"That's what I noticed from the last Six Nations to going into the autumn, and to coming back in here - the intensity of training has gone up, as has the demand on the players to do the work off the field.

"Have England got better? I feel they have. People expect big victories when it comes to Test rugby but sides are as fit and big as each other. It comes down to gameplan execution and opportunities on the day."
