Rory Duncan is set to be reunited with his former boss Alan Solomons after agreeing to join English Premiership strugglers Worcester Warriors as head coach at the end of the season.

A vacancy in Worcester's backroom staff arose this week after current head coach Carl Hogg, the former Scotland international, announced he would be leaving in the summer.

Solomons himself only recently took charge as director of rugby at Midlands side Worcester. The South African knows compatriot Duncan well, having been his coach when the former lock was playing for the Eastern Province Kings.

Duncan has since forged a coaching career of his own and the 40-year-old will leave his post as head coach of South Africa's Cheetahs, currently playing in the PRO 14, at the end of the season.

"I am immensely excited about the challenge of moving to Warriors and linking up with Alan Solomons once again," said Duncan.

"Warriors are a club with huge potential, which is clear for everyone to see," he added. "I will be working hard with Alan and the rest of the coaching staff to help the club move forward."

Duncan has so far led the Cheetahs to third position in Conference A of the PRO 14 after eight wins from their opening 13 games.
