England defence coach Paul Gustard will be named Harlequins head coach in the next 24 hours, Sky Sports News understands.

Gustard will remain in his England role for their tour of South Africa and will take up his new role with the Aviva Premiership side in June.

The former Leicester player joined Eddie Jones' England staff at the start of 2016 and is contracted to the RFU until the end of the 2019 Rugby World Cup in Japan.

Harlequins director of rugby John Kingston revealed he would leave the club at the end of the season in April, despite agreeing a contract extension in January. He has been part of the club's staff since 2001.

During his playing career, Gustard played as a lock for Leicester Tigers, Saracens and London Irish.
