Danny Care hopes to win 100 England caps

Danny Care has set his sights on making one hundred appearances for his country after becoming England's most capped scrum-half against Wales.

Danny Care is aiming to join the exclusive club of players to make 100 appearances for England.

The 31-year-old became England's most-capped scrum-half against Wales earlier this month when he surpassed Matt Dawson's record of 77 appearances.

Care started the game due to the knee injury Ben Youngs sustained against Italy that will keep him out for the rest of the tournament.

"It was a great feeling. It was honestly something I hadn't really thought about until probably the day before the game when I was getting all these messages," Care said.

"It kind of put a little bit of pressure on me so I didn't really sleep very well the night before.

"It was probably the most nervous I have been before a game because I wanted to do the shirt proud and take my opportunity and I'm just glad we got the win and we can move on now and focus on Scotland.

"I would love to play 78 more times if I can but all my focus is on this week and trying to help the boys get the result we want.

"Obviously the 100 club would be amazing, that would be the dream, but it's a long way in the future and we've got some big games coming up especially this one on Saturday."

England forwards coach Steve Borthwick says Nathan Hughes is in contention for selection against Scotland despite his lack of rugby since his return from a knee injury.

England have a clean bill of health ahead of Saturday's game against Scotland at Murrayfield - Nathan Hughes is set to start at No 8 after recovering from a knee injury, while fellow forwards James Haskell and Joe Marler are available again after suspension.

"They have been worked hard," Care added.

"Three very experienced boys, three very big boys, who can bolster any attack and defence. They have been working hard and putting in the graft to put their hands up for selection.

"I'm sure this week will be pretty tasty and Eddie [Jones] has got a decision to make as to who gets the shouts this weekend.

"They are three massively physical fit lads who love playing for their country so for sure if selected they will be ready."
