Danny Care relishing England starting berth against Italy

Danny Care says he is delighted to have been selected to start for England against Italy in the Six Nations

Danny Care admits he is delighted to have been selected to start for England against Italy in the Six Nations.

Care is one of four changes that Eddie Jones has made for England's clash against Italy at Twickenham on Sunday.

Care last started for England in their 2016 Six Nations Grand Slam decider against France as Jones has preferred Ben Youngs as his starting No 9.

However, Care is eager to make the most of the porrutunity and apply pressure on Jones to keep on picking him to start.

"It's been nearly a year since that Grand Slam day in France since I started so I am delighted to be back in the starting line-up and hopefully I can do a good job for the team," Care told Sky Sports News HQ.

"Ben has played really well and I am old enough and experienced enough to know that when someone is playing well then you can't expect to start.

"It is up to me to push him as much as I can and to push the coaches to make a decision at a certain point and I am delighted that I get to play at home at Twickenham against Italy.

Care also reflected on the lessons England rugby have learnt from Leicester who have just fired their manager Claudio Ranieri nine months after they won the Premier League.

"It's a mad one - for a guy to be sacked nine months after winning the league is unbelievable - it shows just how mad football is.

"We have talked a lot about Leicester - how they were so good last year and this year it just does not seem to have clicked. The lesson is that success is not forever - you have to keep on developing and keep on getting better."
