Alex Corbisiero analyses the scrums between England and Australia in the Brisbane Test

Lions prop Alex Corbisiero analyses the Australia v England scrum battle, after Dan Cole drew criticism in the first Test.

England won 39-28 in the first of three Tests against the Wallabies, using the platform of set-piece dominance to wear down their hosts who were 10-0 up early in the game.

The pressure began to tell, and the Wallabies conceded several penalties that allowed Owen Farrell to kick 24 points from the tee and guide his side to victory.

England's scrum was subsequently criticised by former Wallaby coach Bob Dwyer, who fumed at the performance of referee Romain Poite and his assistants.

"How anyone could have allowed Dan Cole to scrummage the way he did was absolutely beyond me," Dwyer said.

Former Australia hooker Phil Kearns waded in to offer his opinion, but England coach Eddie Jones has laughed off the accusations.

"Every side I coach, I coach them to play legally," said Jones. "We want to play legally, we want to scrum straight, we want to scrum square, we want to scrum at them.

"We were disappointed on the weekend that we weren't allowed to scrum at them. A couple of times when we were allowed to scrum, we took them.

"We want to scrum straight, we want to scrum square and we want to take them. That's how we teach them how to scrum.

"We'll let the referee adjudicate on Saturday. I've got great confidence in Craig Joubert - he'll referee the game and he won't let Phil Kearns referee the game.

"If Phil Kearns was refereeing the game, Australia would win every time."
