Eddie Jones believes new captain Dylan Hartley is already making an impact

England head coach Eddie Jones is impressed by the way Dylan Hartley has settled into his new role as captain.

Jones has had the opportunity to evaluate his new-look England squad during their training sessions at Pennyhill Park this week and believes Northampton hooker Hartley is already finding his feet after being confirmed as captain for the Six Nations on Monday.

"I think it's all a bit of a whirlwind at the moment for him," Jones told Sky Sports News HQ.

"But he's got some good people around him, he's starting to find who's going to support him really closely and he's starting to lead from the front."

Jones has encouraged Hartley, 29, to be himself after replacing Chris Robshaw as skipper.

"I'm sure when he relaxes a little bit you will see the real Dylan," said Jones. "The one piece of advice I have given to him is 'just be yourself'."
