Four Irish players nominated for EPCR European Player of the Year

Four Irish players have been nominated for 2018 European Player of the Year, with Owen Farrell and Gareth Davies also in contention.

Tadhg Beirne, Tadhg Furlong, Conor Murray and Johnny Sexton are the Irish quartet while Saracens fly-half Farrell is the only English presence on the 15-man list.

Seven French-based players are nominated, including La Rochelle No 8 Victor Vito and Racing 92's Olympic gold medalist Leone Nakarawa.

Leinster lead the way with four players shortlisted. The Irish province were the only side to win all six Champions Cup pool games and will face defending champions Saracens in the quarter-finals.

The list will be reduced to five players after the semi-finals in April before the winner is announced after the final on May 12.
