WATCH: Le Roux's try blunder

Willie le Roux made the schoolboy error of dropping the ball over the line

Springbok Willie le Roux dropped the ball in the act of scoring a try in Wasps' loss to Leinster in the Champions Cup.

In the 24th minute of Wasps' quarter-final against Leinster, Kurtley Beale cut through the defence before drawing the final defender and releasing Le Roux down the left.

Le Roux dived over and celebrated the score but a chasing Johnny Sexton immediately appealed to referee Nigel Owens that the winger had knocked the ball on - and replays confirmed Sexton's suspicions. Owens awarded Leinster a scrum from which they won a penalty and cleared their lines, before scoring two tries to stretch to a lead that took Wasps out of the game.

While it's unfair to pin a result on one moment, Le Roux won't want to watch too many replays of the wasted opportunity to bring his side into the game when they were trailing by just eight points.
