In the latest Offload episode, James Gemmell and Will Greenwood discuss the lack of punishment for Israel Folau and in the wake of John Kingston's exit, ask is the rugby coaching scene turning into football?
Rugby Australia declined to sanction Folau over an anti-gay social media post this week, while Sale Sharks' Denny Solomona was banned for four weeks for using an alleged homophobic slur.
Prior to the Six Nations, Toulon and France centre Mathieu Bastareaud received a three-week suspension for a similar homophobic slur.
Greenwood and Gemmell discuss what the appropriate punishment is for a seemingly prevalent and increasing crime, and with Folau out of contract this year and linked with a return to rugby league, could that have been a factor in his non-sanction?
Elsewhere this week, confirmation came that John Kingston will leave Harlequins at the end of the season. Will Quins go for a southern hemisphere coach next? And what is the pathway for English coaches to the top level today? Is rugby becoming like football with more coaching changes than ever before? England Pathway coach Russell Earnshaw joins on the phone to give his thoughts.
And as usual, we finish with Brickbat & Bouquet looking at what's hot and what's not in the world of rugby this week.
