Huw Jones says Scotland must improve further to beat Ireland

Huw Jones says Scotland need to build on their thrilling victory over England by improving their away record if they are to mount a Six Nations title challenge.

Jones scored two tries on Saturday as the Scots beat England 25-13 to win the Calcutta Cup for the first time in a decade.

That made it two wins from two at Murrayfield this year but Scotland began their campaign with a loss in Wales and now face a daunting trip to play unbeaten Ireland in two weeks - a game they must win if they are to remain in the hunt for this year's title.

Reflecting on the defeat of England, Jones said: "This game is obviously a massive confidence booster.

"We've turned Murrayfield into a bit of a fortress now. I think in our last nine games we've lost one and that was a real close one (against New Zealand).

"We're under no illusions - we've now got a really tough away game.

"If we're going to become a really great team we're going to have to start winning away, which we haven't really done for a while.

Despite the impressive performance against England, Jones thinks Scotland need to improve again if they are to succeed in Ireland.

He said: "A lot of people will say England maybe didn't have their best game and, if Ireland have their best game, it will be a much tougher game.

"They'll have the home crowd, the sort of lift that we got from our supporters.

"Going over there, whatever we did here, we'll have to up that performance."
