Standout Springboks, a record-breaker and a whole host of All Blacks make up our team of the week.

15. Damian McKenzie (New Zealand)

For the second week in a row, Damian McKenzie is our full-back after starring in a thrilling encounter between New Zealand and South Africa in Cape Town.

McKenzie's stats from the game speak for themselves - he made a staggering 21 carries, 135 metres and beat eight defenders.

It was the full-back's try that helped his side to prevail over a gutsy Springbok outfit and this Rugby Championship the 22-year-old has shown that he's settling into the Test arena superbly.

14. Nehe Milner-Skudder (New Zealand)

Nehe Milner-Skudder leaving the field in considerable discomfort on Saturday was a horrible sight to see and the news that he will be out for six months due to a dislocated right shoulder is a great shame.

Before his injury, the winger was in sublime form as he opened his box of tricks and excelled.

A much-improved South Africa pushed the Rugby Championship victors all the way in Cape Town

That box of tricks included some outrageous handling skills, pace and footwork.

Of the magic, there was one particularly impressive behind-the-back pass to Aaron Smith which almost resulted in the earliest of All Black tries.

His dynamism, power and speed of thought constantly threatened and this latest injury is a big blow for the man who's just come back from a significant spell on the sidelines.

13. Rory O'Loughlin (Leinster)

At the Aviva Stadium, Leinster got one up over their rivals Munster and centre Rory O'Loughlin's two tries contributed handsomely to victory.

Of the two, O'Loughlin's first stood out and was an extremely well-taken try. The centre spun out of John Ryan's attempted tackle and produced an acrobatic finish despite considerable pressure from CJ Stander and Robin Copeland.

12. Jan Serfontein (South Africa)

At the heart of South Africa's much-improved performance was physical intensity and from inside centre Jan Serfontein led the backs' charge with his direct running.

The 24-year-old challenged the gainline all game long. He made an average of 4.3 metres on every carry and delivered 13 of them while he was on the park.

11. Jonny May (Leicester Tigers)

Jonny May's 62nd-minute try at the Madejski Stadium pushed him out to a try-scoring ratio of six tries in six Aviva Premiership matches.

In Readin, he made 162 metres over the course of the afternoon, 42 more than any other Leicester player, and notched up 17 carries.

May is a winger who is always on the lookout for work and multiple times during the game his footwork foxed defenders.

With England's autumn internationals just around the corner, Eddie Jones is likely to be taking note of the 27-year-old's form and the winger be looking to make it seven in seven when Leicester face Racing 92 next weekend.

10. Johnny Sexton (Leinster)

In Dublin, Johnny Sexton capped a Guinness PRO14 derby victory with a significant personal milestone as he overtook Felipe Contepomi to become Leinster's record points scorer.

As well as contributing three penalties and two conversions off the tee Sexton marshalled his side around the field with the assurance and dominance that we expect from the international.

His pinpoint cross-field kicks for Adam Byrne asked significant questions of Munster and his distribution was key to Leinster's victory.

9. Danny Care (Harlequins)

On Friday night another international gave a timely reminder of what he can bring to the party at the Twickenham Stoop.

From the outset Care looked to really enjoy locking horns with his opposite number - Faf de Klerk - and by the time he left the field there was no doubt which of them had won the duel.

Care was a constant threat around the fringes and used his boot cut through Sale's defensive line with ease.

Two beautifully weighted chips through, one in each half, provided Tim Visser with the opportunity to score a brace and the 30-year-old looked sharp on home soil.

1. Steven Kitshoff (South Africa)

Steven Kitshoff starts off our front-row unit after he had a barnstorming first start in a South African jersey.

The prop's distinctive figure could be seen popping up all over the park as he emptied the tank before being relieved of his duties with three minutes to go.

Kitshoff carried the ball 16 times, only the super human Pieter-Steph du Toit eclipsed that with 21, and alongside the man that we'll talk about next was a menace at the breakdown.

2. Malcolm Marx (South Africa)

Malcolm Marx was utterly mesmeric for the Springboks on Saturday and highlighted to the world that he is a front-row forward that has it all in his locker.

Marx was an absolute terror at the breakdown, he tackled everything that he could get his hands on and attacked the match with world-class purpose.

The hooker made 14 carries and 65 metres. He beat three defenders and set up a try before crossing himself and that 78th minute score was just reward for such an impressive outing.

3. Samson Lee (Scarlets)

It's a well-known fact that some members of the front-row union don't score too many tries therefore when one does it's appropriate to mark the occasion!

On Saturday night, Scarlets' Samson Lee finally opened his try-scoring account for the region after a century of previous appearances for the side.

At the start of the final quarter, Lee latched onto the back of a driving maul and angled himself perfectly to secure all five points for the region.

The try put his side ahead and with Rhys Patchell's conversion proved to be the difference on the night.

4. Eben Etzebeth (South Africa)

Another member of South Africa's forward park that drove their intensity through the roof in comparison to the last time that they faced New Zealand was their captain.

Eben Etzebeth made it his mission to provide the platforms required for his side as he anchored their lineout and physically led from the front.

The 25-year-old made a number of barnstorming carries over the gainline and had arguably one of his best performances of 2017 in a Springboks jersey.

5. Seb Davies (Cardiff Blues)

Now Seb Davies may have had a number four on his back at Cardiff Arms Park however for the purposes of our team of the week he'll have a five!

Davies made his international debut in the summer and continues to capture the attentions of Welsh rugby fans.

During a thrilling derby, in which the Blues came back from an 11-point deficit at half-time, Davies ignited the game with his spark and finesse.

6. Callum Gibbins (Glasgow Warriors)

Glasgow Warriors have finished this first block of domestic fixtures with a clean sweep of victories and against the Cheetahs Callum Gibbins had a cracker.

The flanker scored a try in each half during a man of the match display that saw him top the carrying stats for Glasgow with 12 and put in a solid defensive shift with 11 tackles.

7. Pieter-Steph du Toit (South Africa)

Pieter-Steph du Toit hasn't always enjoyed great success at openside flanker for South Africa - a torrid time against Ben Youngs at Twickenham Stadium springs to mind - however in Cape Town he was electric.

The flanker showcased an engine to be proud of as he never ceased from the first moment until the last.

The 25-year-old was his team's top carrier with 21 and added ten tackles on top of that.

In all, he brought the fight that was required for the Springboks to stand up to the side that had taught them such a tough lesson just a few weeks ago

8. Sean McMahon (Australia)

In Mendoza, Australia finished their Rugby Championship on a high note and in the process Sean McMahon turned heads at No 8.

Australia produced a strong second half to clinch victory in Mendoza over Argentina

McMahon made 14 carries throughout the course of the 80 minutes and like du Toit in Cape Town showed an impressive engine.

Alongside the grunt work it was McMahon's pinpoint pass that put Marika Koroibete away for a try in the 20th minute.
