WATCH: Chris Ashton sparkles with two tries in Toulon debut

Watch Chris Ashton's Toulon debut highlights

Chris Ashton got his Toulon career off to a flying start as he scored twice in a 41-14 win over Pau on Sunday.

Though Ashton had featured for the three-time European Champions in the preseason, Sunday marked his official club debut in a competitive fixture, and the 39-Test international made sure it was a day to remember.

After a reasonably quiet first half the winger latched onto a looping pass from Pau fly-half Colin Slade in the 62nd minute to go all the way for his first try in Toulon colours. The 30-year-old then got on the end of an overlap to dive over in the corner six minutes later.

Ashton could easily have notched a hat-trick, but a poor pass from Sebastien Tillous-Borde scuppered a chance to race down the left touchline for a third.

Not content to just contribute with the ball, the former Northampton and Saracens man showed his commitment to his new club to track back and put in an incredible try-saving tackle on Thibault Daubagna who looked certain to score in the left corner.
