France will be without one of their top players for the Six Nations after Wesley Fofana was ruled out due to injury.

The 29-year-old suffered a serious leg injury during Clermont's Champions Cup win over Exeter on Saturday.

Fofana suffered the injury towards the end of the first half and was unable to put his left foot on the ground as he left the pitch.

A Clermont statement on Saturday read: "Fofana suffered a ruptured Achilles tendon in his left leg and he will see the surgeon tomorrow morning as he will probably need to have an operation.

"He will be out for a long time."
