Bordeaux-Bègles boss Jacques Brunel is set to replace Guy Novès as France head coach, according to media reports in France.

Former Toulouse boss Noves has presided over a disappointing run of form since replacing Philippe Saint-Andre after the 2015 World Cup, winning seven games in 22 matches.

Their poor form was highlighted in the recent November internationals, where they lost to South Africa, twice to New Zealand and drew 23-23 with Japan in their final game.

L'Equipe are reporting that former Italy coach Brunel told his players on Friday morning that he has been offered the role to train the national side and has accepted.

The report goes on to say that while an official announcement has not been made, Brunel believes his last game in charge of Bordeaux-Bègles will be their trip to take on Stade Francaise in their Top 14 clash on December 30.
