Sam Burgess will captain England for the upcoming Four Nations on his return to international rugby league.

The 27-year-old will skipper the side for the first time just a year after returning from an ill-fated spell in England's rugby union side and a single season with Bath.

Burgess has been impressing for the South Sydney Rabbitohs since he became the code's highest paid player and was tipped as one of the "leading contenders" to captain England in the upcoming internationals by coach Wayne Bennett.

Tipping Burgess alongside James Graham earlier this month, Bennett said: "It's great to have Sam back. He's a huge player in our game. He is inspirational and everyone looks up to him."

The England squad travelled from Leeds to London on Saturday to set up camp ahead of their single Four Nations warm-up game against France.

Burgess is suspended for the game for a tripping offence in South Sydney's last NRL match of the season on September 2.

Burgess' twin brothers Tom and George were part of the group that will train this week at the Honourable Artillery Company ground before flying out from Stansted on a chartered plane on Saturday morning.
