Catalans Dragons half-back Thomas Bosc has been ruled out for up to eight weeks after suffering knee ligament damage.
The 33-year-old underwent scans on Tuesday morning to determine the extent of his injury after leaving the field injured in Dragons' Super 8s victory against Widnes last Saturday.
The prognosis is six to eight weeks out, which would rule him out of the rest of the Super 8s.
The Frenchman, who has spent his entire professional career with the Dragons, is the club's all-time leading points scorer, becoming the first player to reach 1,000 points.
Catalans still have to play St Helens, Hull FC, Warrington Wolves, Wakefield Wildcats, Castleford Tigers and Wigan Warriors.
Bosc made his international debut for France in the 2008 Rugby League World Cup and has since represented his country in the 2009 Four Nations as well as the 2013 Rugby League World Cup.
The full-back joins Todd Carney, Willie Tonga, Michael Oldfield and Vincent Duport in the club's lengthy injury list.
