Wigan forward Ben Flower has signed a new contract tying him to the club until the end of the 2020 season.

The Wales international, whose previous deal had less than a year to run, has committed his future to the Warriors despite interest from elsewhere in Super League and the NRL.

Flower has made 90 appearances since joining Wigan in 2012 and won the Challenge Cup and Grand Final double in 2013, although his early sending-off in the 2014 Grand Final contributed to the defeat against St Helens.

He said: "I love playing here and know that I am very lucky to be able to represent this great club.

"My family and I are really settled in Wigan, my little boy has grown up here and we're expecting another child soon so we're settled here and that's important to me."

Chairman Ian Lenegan said: "We have been well aware of significant interest from many high-profile clubs, both in Super League and the National Rugby League competitions.

"Our rugby director Kris Radlinski and I have been in negotiations with Ben's representatives for some time now and are happy that the conclusion of those negotiations have seen Ben commit his future."
