Tony Smith signs new deal with Warrington Wolves

Super League's longest-serving coach Tony Smith has signed a two-year contract extension with Warrington.

Australian-born Smith, who joined Warrington from Leeds Rhinos in 2009, has signed terms on a new deal which will keep him with the Wolves until November 2018.

The 49-year-old has led the club to three Challenge Cup final victories, two Grand Final appearances and a League Leader's Shield during his time at the Halliwell Jones Stadium.

"I'm delighted and excited about the upcoming two years," Smith said in a statement on Warrington's website.

"I think we have been a good fit for each other as coach and club and it's the ambition of this club that has kept me here.

"I think we have come through a period of rebuilding over the last couple of years and we've got some terrific young players with experience now.

"I think some of our best times are to come and hopefully some of that will be this year, certainly into the next couple and beyond. I'm excited to be part of it."
