Justin Carney faces a disciplinary hearing over this incident with referee James Child

Salford winger Justin Carney is facing a disciplinary hearing after being accused of coming into contact with a match official.

The 28-year-old former Castleford player has been charged by the Rugby Football League's match review panel with making either deliberate or reckless physical contact with referee James Child in the 36th minute of Salford's 30-20 Betfred Super League win at Huddersfield last Thursday.

Carney does not have the option of an early-guilty plea and will therefore face a hearing on Tuesday.

He is facing a grade C charge which carries a suspension of two to three matches.
