St Helens winger Tommy Makinson is set to miss the rest of the season after sustaining a knee injury on Easter Monday.
The 24-year-old was not named in Keiron Cunningham's 19-man squad to face Hull FC on Friday and scans have now revealed he has damaged his anterior cruciate ligament.
Cunningham admitted Makinson, who has been an ever-present this season, will be a big loss.
"We're all gutted for Tommy but he is one of the most professional players we have and will be dedicated to his rehab," said Cunningham.
"We will miss his contribution to our side but this gives an opportunity for another player in the squad to come through and seize his chance.
"Our squad is experienced at dealing with long-term injuries and we will look to it once more. In the meantime, we wish Tommy all the best."
