WATCH: Ashton Sims and Joe Burgess come to blows over hair pull as Warrington saw off Wigan

Joe Burgess pulled Ashton Sims by the ponytail after the Warrington prop was penalised for a high tackle during their win at Wigan

Tempers flared in the Super League match between Wigan Warriors and Warrington Wolves ending in this moment between Ashton Sims and Joe Burgess.

The Wolves trailed for most of the Grand Final rematch at the DW Stadium but Ben Currie's 56th-minute try proved decisive as they pulled off a surprise win over Wigan to ruin Sean O'Loughlin's 400th appearance.

It was a must-win game for Warrington, who found themselves sat in ninth place going into the match, three points behind Huddersfield in eighth, Tony Smith's side needing maximum points to keep their Super 8s dream alive, albeit only for a few a few hours if Huddersfield beat bottom club Leigh on Friday night.

Emotions were high and a tense start from both teams came to a head in the sixth minute when a high tackle by Ashton Sims on John Bateman caused tempers to flare.

Despite Sims conceding the penalty, it was Wigan winger Joe Burgess that caused the biggest stir in the incident, spotting the opportunity to exact revenge on the big Australian by pulling his hair.
