Widnes stand off Joe Mellor joined Jon Wells at the touchscreen after Widnes' 16-14 win over St Helens on Friday.
The Vikings secured their first home win of the campaign in a tit-for-tat affair at the Select Security Stadium thanks to a pair of tries from Patrick Ah Van.
The winger crossed either side of the break to secure the points for the Super League basement boys easing the pressure on under-fire boss Denis Betts.
Mellor also got in on the scoring action, crossing after just 13 minutes to get his side's account up and running and it was the try-scorer that joined Jon Wells at the touchscreen to analyse his side's performance post-match.
Friday's game saw a turnaround in fortunes for Betts' side who have been punished by both Warrington and Leeds with fast starts in recent weeks, which is something discussed by the stand-off when he reflected on the victory at the touchscreen.
"We were after a good performance and of late we have not had that but tonight is a big turning point in our season to be honest," said Mellor.
"We have been talking about that [need for better starts] the past few weeks but saying it and doing it are two different things and tonight I think we proved that. We just wanted to knock out the first five sets and we did that - we were 88 per cent completion rate in the first half and that was really good for a team that hasn't been starting well."
