Zak Hardaker heading onto the transfer list, Queensland taking State of Origin I and the NRL being rocked by match-fixing probe all feature in this week's Set of Six.

Hardaker set to leave Leeds

Just 242 days after being named 2015 Super League Man of Steel it was confirmed that Hardaker wants to leave Leeds.

The 24-year-old has expressed his desire to play in the NRL and after informing the club that he wanted to depart several weeks ago he's now on their transfer list.

This season Hardaker, like his team, hasn't hit the heights but 67 tries in 154 appearances is a good hit rate and he's likely to gain attention Down Under.

One factor that has been voiced to explain Leeds' difficult season has been the loss of their experienced players and Hardaker's departure would only compound this issue for head coach Brian McDermott.

2016 State of Origin I won't go down in the history books as one of the true Origin classics but it was filled with the type of bruising physicality and intense competitive rivalry that we expect.

In his post match comments Queensland's head coach Kevin Walters admitted that the Maroons gained a "few favourable" officiating calls but overall their greater experience paid.

The decisions alluded to by Walters left Blues coach Laurie Daley fuming, especially Josh Morris' 66th minute disallowed try, and that frustration must fuel their output heading into Origin II.

The Origin history books look favourably on the opening victors and although the maiden test will have brushed off some of New South Wales' nerves, Queensland are firmly in the driving seat.

NRL match-fixing?

Police in Australia have revealed that they are investigating claims of match-fixing in the NRL.

Two matches involving the Sydney-based Manly Sea Eagles are at the centre of the investigation, according to the city's Daily Telegraph, although police haven't confirm any details.

Naturally the NRL are fully cooperating with the authorities and newly appointed chief executive Todd Greenberg has said he's taking the claims "very seriously".

Greenberg added that that anyone found guilty of match-fixing would be banned from the sport life.

Top eight slipping away from Leeds

Leeds Rhinos faced Catalans Dragons in Round 17 of the First Utility Super League

After suffering their 14th defeat of the season, Leeds coach McDermott has admitted that their top-eight hopes are all but over.

Leeds' 24-12 defeat to Catalans was a spirited performance but the result delivered their sixth league loss in a row which represents their worse sequence of results since 1985.

With a wealth of first-team players missing due to injury and suspension McDermott needs to start getting some of them back on the field and work to reignite the squad's confidence.

Toothache or more?

Huddersfield Giants' new signing Sebastine Ikahihifo has been sidelined for two months with a broken jaw.

Ikahihifo initially complained of suffering from toothache but further medical examination highlighted a clean break in his jaw that required surgery.

The 25-year-old former former New Zealand Warriors back-row forward joined the Giants on a free transfer from St George Illawarra last month and sustained the injury on only his second outing for the side

Cunningham ready for turnaround

St Helens coach Keiron Cunningham has pledged to turn around his club's fortunes and win back the support of the fans that displayed their displeasure after his side's 26-4 home defeat by Warrington.

"It was a tough night," said Cunningham. "It's a results-based industry and, when you don't pick a few results up, it seems like the world is against you.

"They've got to vent their frustrations somewhere but I don't take it personally, even though they are shouting about me.

"I understand where they are coming from. I am fighting as hard as they want us to fight and we will get there."

The road to redemption doesn't start with an easy match as Cunningham and his side are heading to the Stade Gilbert Brutus to face an in-form Catalans side in Round 18.
