Wakefield forward Tinirau Arona has been given a two-match ban for a dangerous tackle on St Helens winger Adam Swift during the Wildcats' 44-4 Super League defeat at Langtree Park.

Swift was carried from the field on a stretcher following Arona's tackle, which occurred just six minutes into last Friday's game. The tackle angered Saints coach Keiron Cunningham, who is set to lose the player for at least two months with an ankle injury.

Arona was charged by the Rugby Football League's match-review panel with a grade B offence and he was fined £300 and given the maximum punishment for such an offence when he appeared in front of a disciplinary tribunal.

Wakefield will also be without centre or second rower Jason Walton for his side's trip to Hull on Friday after Walton was handed a one-match ban.

Walton was charged by the match-review panel with a dangerous throw on St Helens captain Jon Wilkin during the game at Langtree Park.

He was eligible to submit an early-guilty plea to the grade B offence and, after admitting his guilt, was given the minimum suspension.
