Philadelphia Eagles running back Jay Ajayi says he hopes the Los Angeles Rams can beat the New England Patriots at Superbowl LIII

British NFL star Jay Ajayi hopes the Los Angeles Rams can repeat Philadelphia Eagles’ heroics last year by defeating the New England Patriots and winning the Super Bowl.

The Eagles won Super Bowl LII last year, with a 41-33 victory over Bill Belichick and Tom Brady's team in Minnesota last year.

The pair have won five Super Bowl titles between them and Ajayi insists they will take some stopping.

"It's going to be tough to beat Brady and Belichick," the Londoner told Sky Sports News.

"They were in the same game last year and I know they are not going to [want to] lose back to back but at the end of the day I am rooting for the Rams.

"I've got a lot of mates on that squad. I think it will mean a lot to them to be able to go and get that Super Bowl and I know what it meant to me to be able to receive that.

"So, good luck to them because it is not going to be easy for sure. They are going to have come with their 'A' game definitely."

Ajayi tore an ACL in Week 5 of this season but is now walking unaided as he steps up his recovery.

"I'm feeling really good," the 25-year-old running back said.

"I'm just taking it day-by day, working out about five times a week and the process is really motivating me to get back on the field.

"The ACL recovery process is about 12 months and I'm about three-and-a-half months in so I'm just taking it day-bay-day. But I've had an ACL injury before so I know how it goes and I'm motivated and ready for this process."
