Case Keenum and Denver are set to start the free agency quarterback shuffle, with multiple reports suggesting he is set to sign with the Broncos.

Keenum, one of three Minnesota Vikings quarterbacks set to hit the market when the new league season opens for business on Wednesday, is coming off a career season in which he threw for 3,547 yards, 22 touchdowns and seven interceptions while taking the Vikings to the NFC Championship Game

However, with the Vikings one of the major contenders for Kirk Cousins' signature, Keenum has been looking to cash in on his status of last year's stellar campaign and the Broncos look to be his landing spot.

Denver were also reported to be in the hunt for Cousins having struggled through three options under centre last season but general manager John Elway has made his move for Keenum.

ESPN first reported the news early Tuesday morning, with NFL insider Ian Rapoport also reporting soon after. The news is expected to be confirmed later on Tuesday and rubber stamped when Free Agency opens at 9pm (GMT) on Wednesday.

According to 9News Denver, Keenum's deal is expected to be a short-term agreement, suggesting it won't preclude the Broncos from taking a quarterback with the fifth overall pick in next month's draft if they so choose. His signing cannot be made official until the new league year opens at 9pm GMT on Wednesday.

Keenum worked with former Broncos head coach Gary Kubiak, now a senior personnel advisor in Denver's front office, with the Houston Texans from 2012-13 having joined as an undrafted free agent.

The knock-on effect of Keenum's move could see last season's Denver starter Trevor Siemian traded or released while the likes of Sam Bradford and Teddy Bridgewater are the other two names who could leave the Vikings and assess their options elsewhere.
