Brock Osweiler ran for one touchdown and threw for two more to lead the Denver Broncos to a 25-13 victory over the Indianapolis Colts on Thursday night.
Osweiler replaced the injured starting QB Trevor Siemian in the first quarter and played his best football of the season to guide the Broncos (5-10) to back-to-back wins after ending an eight-game losing streak. It's also their first win on the road since December last year.
For the Colts (3-11), it was more of the same. They blew an early 10-0 lead and have now lost five in a row, the longest skid of coach Chuck Pagano's six-year tenure.
Siemian went to the locker room with an injured left shoulder after Barkevious Mingo drove him into the ground on the Broncos' second possession.
Osweiler came in and was 12 of 17 passing, for 194 yards, and took the Broncos on three second-half scoring drives. Denver running back CJ Anderson also impressed, running 30 times for a season-high 158 yards.
An 18-yard touchdown run from Osweiler reduced Denver's deficit to 10-7 at half-time, before he then gave the visitors the lead with a 22-yard TD pass to Cody Latimer in the third quarter.
Osweiler added a 54-yard TD pass to Jeff Heuerman - and a two-point conversion pass to Latimer - later in the same quarter to make 22-13, while Brandon McManus sealed victory for the Broncos with a 40-yard field goal in the fourth.
