The NFL Players Association is continuing its fight against the enforcement of a six-game suspension on Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott.

NFLPA lawyers have asked a judge to temporarily delay the effect of her ruling on Monday, which permitted the league to enforce a ban on Elliott over domestic violence allegations.

Papers were filed on Tuesday in Manhattan federal court, with a request that Judge Katherine Polk Failla suspends her ruling so lawyers can further appeal the decision to the 2nd US Circuit Court of Appeals.

The association's lawyers said, if their request is denied, they will then ask the Manhattan appeals court to temporarily suspend her decision - they are seeking a ruling by Wednesday evening.

Elliott was suspended in August after he had several physical confrontations in the summer of 2016 with his then-girlfriend - he was never charged or arrested by law enforcement.

But a series of injunctions and lawsuits have allowed Elliott to play in Dallas' first seven games of the season, and he has responded by carrying the ball 164 times for 690 yards and six touchdowns.
