Marcus Mariota's late touchdown pass to rookie Taywan Taylor helped the Tennessee Titans snap an 11-game losing streak to the Indianapolis Colts with a 36-22 triumph on Monday night in Nashville.
Mariota, back in action after missing time with a hamstring injury, connected with Taylor with to give the Titans the lead with just over five minutes remaining, while a Derrick Henry 72-yard touchdown run then iced the win.
It is Tennessee's first victory over Indianapolis since October 2011. Their 11 straight losses to the Colts was tied for the NFL's longest active losing streak against one team.
Mariota completed 23 of 32 passes for 306 yards on his comeback game as the Titans improved to 3-3 and moved into a three-way tie with the Houston Texans and Jacksonville Jaguars for first place in the AFC South, while the Colts slip to 2-4.
Colts QB Jacoby Brissett hit on 21 of 37 passes for 212 yards and a touchdown and Indianapolis had led 19-9 early in the third quarter after John Simon returned an interception 26 yards for a touchdown, but the visitors were subsequently outscored 27-3 for the remainder of the contest.
Earlier, Titans kicker Ryan Succop had opened the scoring with a 48-yard field goal three minutes into the game, an NFL record 47th straight conversion from 50 yards or closer, and he increased that record to 51 by the end of the game as he finished with five successful kicks on the night.
The Titans didn't get their first touchdown until the fourth quarter though when, with 10 minutes remaining, DeMarco Murray scored on a three-yard run that capped a 15-play, 87-yard drive.
The Colts tied things up at 22 when their veteran kicker Adam Vinatieri converted a 52-yard field goal - his third successful effort of the evening - but the Titans took control thereafter.
