The Green Bay Packers and Chicago Bears put their fierce rivalry aside and locked arms on Thursday night during the national anthem, in a further show of unity against President Donald Trump's recent comments.
Players and fans stood shoulder-to-shoulder ahead of the Week Four clash, which Green Bay won 35-14, as protests continued against Trump's calls for all NFL players to show respect to the anthem.
Trump said NFL owners should fire players who did not stand for 'The Star-Spangled Banner' and backed up his comments with a series of tweets last week, as the protests became front-page news in the States.
NFL owners met with commissioner Roger Goodell and a handful of players for several hours prior to Thursday's game in Green Bay.
Goodell was joined at the table by owners John Mara of the New York Giants, New England's Robert Kraft, Pittsburgh's Art Rooney, Jacksonville's Shad Khan, Miami's Stephen Ross, Philadelphia's Jeffrey Lurie and Cleveland's Jimmy Haslam.
The players included New York Giants' Jonathan Casillas, Devin McCourty and Matthew Slater of New England, and Cleveland's Jason McCourty and Christian Kirksey.
