Baltimore Ravens Pro Bowl guard Marshal Yanda has been ruled out for the rest of the season after fracturing his left ankle in Sunday’s 24-10 win over the Cleveland Browns.
Yanda was rolled up on during the first play of the second half, a two-yard run by running back Terrance West.
Ravens head coach John Harbaugh confirmed afterwards Yanda, a two-time first-team All-Pro and a three-time second-team All Pro, is out for the rest of the year.
"I don't want to lament it," Harbaugh said. "We're going to keep faith, we're going to maintain our faith in what we believe in.
"When you face adversity and things like that, that's an opportunity to do something with it. You know the old saying: There's no testimony without a test. So bring on the test. We're OK."
The Ravens have now suffered three season-ending injuries along the offensive line. Starting left guard Alex Lewis (shoulder) and rookie Nico Siragusa (knee) have also been ruled out for the year.
But the loss of Yanda, who has been named to six consecutive Pro Bowls and is one of the NFL's best guards, is a big setback for Baltimore, who moved to 2-0 with Sunday's victory.
"There is not a word in the English dictionary that can describe what Marshal is to us," said Ravens linebacker Terrell Suggs. "It hurts. That hurts to lose your bell cow.
"We are going to miss him, but we still have to play Raven football. He would want us to play Raven football, and he would hold us to that standard."
