Sam Bradford started his second season with Minnesota in style, passing for 346 yards and three touchdowns to help the Vikings beat the New Orleans Saints 29-19 on Monday Night Football.

Stefon Diggs too had a nice night, hauling in seven catches for 93 yards and two for scores, both coming in the second quarter, while Adam Thielen was Bradford's favourite target, racking up 157 yards on nine grabs.

Former Viking Adrian Peterson didn't enjoy the best homecoming in Minnesota, limited to 18 yards on six carries.

The veteran back was overshadowed by the home team's rookie Dalvin Cook, who rushed for 127 yards on 18 attempts.

On an off opening night for the Saints, Drew Brees was quiet too, throwing for 291 yards, the majority of which came late with New Orleans chasing the game.
