Dak Prescott was one of a number of starting quarterbacks to impress in week two of the NFL's pre-season.

Prescott made his pre-season bow for the Dallas Cowboys in a 24-19 win over the Indianapolis Colts and completed seven of his eight passes, including a 32-yard touchdown to Dez Bryant.

But their victory came courtesy of third-stringer Curtis Rush, who connected with Noah Brown and Lance Lenoir for their other two touchdowns.

Darren McFadden rushed for 59 yards on nine carries, while Alfred Morris added 49 yards on nine attempts as they compete to replace star running-back Ezekiel Elliott, who faces missing the first six games of the season through suspension.

Marcus Mariota was similarly efficient for the Tennessee Titans in their 34-27 win over the Carolina Panthers.

There was also a touchdown for Panthers rookie Christian McCaffrey, who had 33 yards on three carries and caught two passes for a further 39 yards.

Mahomes kept things simple, with his 10 pass completions going for only 88 yards, but he managed two touchdowns to Demetrius Harris and De'Anthony Thomas after coming in for Alex Smith, who also performed well and threw a score to Harris.

And there were good signs for 2016 No 1 pick Jared Goff as he helped the Los Angeles Rams to a 24-21 win over the Oakland Raiders.

Goff, who struggled in his rookie season, completed 16 of his 20 pass attempts for 160 yards and connected with Cooper Kupp on an early 23-yard touchdown.

Todd Gurley had 38 yards on eight carries and also crossed for a touchdown, while Raiders quarterback Derek Carr provided two scores to Lee Smith and Michael Crabtree.
