The Dallas Cowboys are one of the most recognisable teams in sport.
They play at a state-of-the-art stadium in Arlington, Texas, and boast a rich history in the NFL (as well as perhaps the most famous cheerleaders in the world).
Their five Super Bowl championships and joint-record appearances in the play-offs (with the N.Y. Giants) put them in the upper echelons of the NFL.
Throughout the 1970s, they became one of the most-loved teams in the sport and consequently acquired the nickname 'America's Team' after winning their second Super Bowl of the decade in 1977.
As of Super Bowl 50, the Cowboys also hold two joint-records with the Pittsburgh Steelers: 34 post-season wins and eight Super Bowl appearances (the Denver Broncos and the New England Patriots have also appeared in the championship game eight times).
The Steelers own the bragging rights for championship wins as it stands with a record of 6-2 to the Cowboys' 5-3.
Dallas enjoyed one of their most successful periods in the 1990s when they won three Super Bowls in four years and cemented their place in the record books.
After back-to- back championships in 1992 and 1993, which also marked a miserable four-year run of consecutive defeats for the Buffalo Bills in the Super Bowl, Dallas beat Pittsburgh 27-17 in Super Bowl XXX in what remains their last appearance in the biggest single-game sporting event in the world.
As a mark of their historic success, the Cowboys have built some of the strongest squads the NFL has ever seen. Troy Aikman at quarterback and Emmitt Smith at running back were two of the unstoppable forces in the 90s, whilst the 'Doomsday Defense' of the 60s and 70s carried the team to their first championship wins in 1971 and 1977.
